India is the land of festivals. Makar Sankranti is known as Pongal in South India and as Maghi in North India. Makar Sankranti is all about prayers, sweets, and kites. DVN Cultural Committee and DVN NSS units organized ‘Sankranthi Sambaralu ‘ on 12th Jan 2020 in the college premises with a gleeful aura which was evident from the cheerful faces of the students. The Chairman of Dadi Veerunaidu college Sri.Dadi Ratnakar and Principal Sri. K.Ramesh in their speech said that Makar Sankranthi is one of the important festivals amongst all Hindu festivals and wished one and all happy Makar Sankranthi.

The programme began with the recitation of a sloka by final year students. The significance of the four days, Bhogi, Makara Sankranthi, Kanuma, and Mukkanuma was explained by second year students. Various cultural programmes depicted the significance of Sankranthi, Gobbemmalu, Basavanna, Haridasu etc., Muthyala Muggullo competition.

A dance by first year boys made the audience spell bound. Kite flying by students was the main attraction. Prizes were sponsored by the management for all the winners and runners for various events. Prizes were distributed by Principal and staff to the winners and runners. DVN Cultural Committee Convenor Smt. S. Daya Madhuri thanked all the committee members for their untiring support in the conduction of the celebrations successfully.
